Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins to take part at International Conference on Afghanistan in London
The conference will discuss further mission by the international community and possibilities to increase contribution to Afghanistan. The participating countries are called to declare their involvement and commitment to Afghanistan's renewal.
At the event, Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins is planning to inform about the decision by the Latvian government to support an increased civilian engagement and the implementation of development measures in Afghanistan.
As reported earlier, at the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 12 January, the Government supported the allocation of funds in the amount of 10,000 LVL for implementing a development co-operation project in Afghanistan, as well as for the participation by two employees of the Ministry of Interior system in the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL Afghanistan).
