Documentary "City of Sweets" to be released
The documentary film is the story of Teodors Rigerts, who started chocolate production in Latvia in 1870, and of the "Laima" company that has continued this tradition up to today, as well as of Vilhelms Ķuze's family and the "Staburadze" company, which managed to remain a national company throughout the Soviet times.
Kaspars Goba's film is a sincere story about the plentiful world of Latvian sweets.
The film is in Latvian, and its length is 44 minutes. It will be premiered at Cinema Riga on September 3 and will be included in the regular programme of the cinema from September 4.
The director and operator Kaspars Goba works as a script writer, director, operator and producer and has participated in shooting several documentaries for various film studios, for instance, "A Village in Siberia" (2000; Juris Podnieks' Studio), "Caucasus Syndrome" (2001, Latvian Television), "Lake Lubans: Squaring the Circle" (2001, Vides Filmu Studija), "Seda. People of the Marsh" (2004, Vides Filmu Studija), "Lake Engure– a Gift from the Sea" (2005, Elm Media), and others.
Kaspars Goba has also worked as a photographer and journalist.
