Retail trade turnover in Latvia in November 2011 - second largest increase across EU
Retail trade turnover in Latvia in November 2011 increased 7.6 percent from November 2010, which was the second largest increase across the European Union, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office "Eurostat".
Lithuania registered the steepest annual increase in retail trade turnover in November - 14.1 percent; retail trade turnover in Estonia grew 3.9 percent.
On the other hand, Portugal registered the largest reduction in retail trade turnover in November - 9.2 percent, followed by Spain - 7 percent, and Bulgaria - 5.3 percent.
Among all EU countries for which data are available, retail trade turnover increased in ten member states and decreased in another ten.
Compared to November 2010, retail trade turnover reduced 2.5 percent in the EU and 1.3 percent in the eurozone.
Compared to October 2011, retail trade turnover shrank 0.6 percent in the EU and 0.8 percent in the eurozone.
Retail trade turnover grew in seven EU countries and reduced in 13.
Lithuania registered the largest monthly increase - 4.2 percent, Ireland - 2 percent, and Latvia - 1.9 percent.
At the same time, Portugal registered the largest monthly reduction of retail trade turnover in November - 2.6 percent, followed by Malta - 1.6 percent, and Romania - 1 percent.
Meanwhile, retail trade turnover in Estonia increased 0.7 percent from October 2011.
