Latvia's GDP increased 5% in Q4 2011

Latvia's gross domestic product in the fourth quarter last year, according to seasonal non-adjusted data, increased 5 percent from the fourth quarter of 2010, according to the Central Statistical Bureau's flash estimate.

A 4 percent growth in industry and 9 percent in trade had a positive effect on the GDP; construction sector continued to grow as well.

Compared to the third quarter of 2011, the GDP in the fourth quarter of 2011 increased 0.8 percent, according to seasonally adjusted data.

The Statistical Bureau will release more precise data on GDP in the fourth quarter of 2011 in a press release on March 9.

As reported, annual GDP growth in the third quarter last year was 6.6 percent.
