The Pirr"s victory in Iraq?
The president’s assessment comes as the US scales back it’s military presence to just 50,000 troops in the Middle East country.
‘‘It’s not going to be a victory lap. It’s not going to be self-congratulatory. There’s still a lot of work we’ve that we’ve got to do to make sure Iraq is an effective partner with us. But, the fact of the matter is, that because of the extraordinary service, that all of you have done, and so many people here at Fort Bliss have done, Iraq has an opportunity to create a better future for itself, and America is more secure,’‘ Obama said.
The US president is due to address the American public from the Oval office later to mark what is being declared as the end of combat operations in Iraq.
