Saeima rejects suggestion to introduce compulsory Bible study classes in schools

The Saeima today rejected a suggestion by For A Good Latvia to introduce compulsory Bible study classes in schools. Currently students in all schools may enroll for Bible study classes or ethics classes; both are funded from the state budget.
For students under the age of 14, the decision is made by their parents.
