LNSO to perform in Western Europe and Japan
In September, LNSO, with conductor Karel Mark Chichon and opera star Elīna Garanča will perform in Munich, Hamburg, Baden-Baden, Basel and Paris.
In November LNSO will embark on an 18-concert tour of Japan, conducted by Tomomi Nishimoto and starring the renowned cellist Mischa Maisky.
In February 2011, the European tour will continue with guest stops in seven cities.
The concert program for Europe will feature symphonic music and works by Spanish composers, sung by Garanča. Japan will hear Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 and Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D major "Classical", Op. 25. Devotees in Riga can get a preview of this concert in the Great Guild August 25.
Next season LNSO plans to also include a number of Gustav Mahler symphonies an a concert version of Giacomo Puccini’s "La Boheme".
