Record number of fires registered yesterday with one dead and three injured

State Fire and Rescue Service last night received 70 reports about fires in Latvia, which is the largest daily number registered so far this year. One person was killed yesterday, three suffered injuries, and another three were rescued by firefighters.
Most of the fires last night and yesterday were caused by improper use of heaters or by faulty heaters or heating systems, Fire and Rescue Service's representative Viktorija Sembele informed LETA.
The Fire and Rescue Service reminds that people should not overheat stoves or use faulty electric heaters in cold weather such as now.
