Latvia: Retail trade turnover in July falls 0.5%

Compared to June, retail trade turnover (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) in July reduced by 0.5 percent, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Retail trade of food products increased by 2.1 percent, but retail trade of non-food products reduced by 1.8 percent.

Compared to July 2009, retail trade turnover in July this year decreased by 2 percent, according to working (trade) day adjusted data, calculating at constant prices. Most notable decrease was recorded in non-food product group - by 2.2 percent. Retail trade of food products reduced only by 1.8 percent.

As reported, retail trade turnover in the second quarter this year, calculated according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices, increased 1.7 percent from the first quarter, including a 1.4 percent increase in retail trade of food products and a 3.4 percent rise in retail trade of non-food products.

Compared to second quarter of 2009, retail trade turnover contracted 6 percent, according to working day adjusted data. Retail trade of food products decreased by 8.9 percent, whereas retail trade of non-food products fell 4.4 percent.
